Dr. ImportSerbian donkey cheese

Delivery across the European Union

All 27 member states, under cold chain, once the producer has confirmed the batch.

Lead times

Two stages follow each other. First, batch availability in Serbia, which depends on lactation and can run from a few days to several weeks. Then transport, usually 48 to 72 hours to the major cities of the Union. We give you both dates separately so you can plan.

Why this is possible

Switzerland and the European Union have formed a common veterinary area since 2009: veterinary border checks between the two were abolished, and a batch already checked on entry into that area can then move within it. That is what makes feasible a shipment most people assume is blocked.

Switzerland is not in the customs union. A shipment into the Union therefore opens an import file: any duties, plus destination-country VAT. Those amounts appear on your quote, never in a surprise invoice after delivery.

Countries served

All 27 member states, plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. Add one or two days for islands and outlying regions, where the cold chain calls for heavier packing.

Packaging

Insulated box, cold packs sized for the real duration of the journey — longer than within Switzerland, so calculated more generously. Product individually wrapped and labelled in line with the EU food information regulation.

On arrival

  • Open the parcel on arrival and put the cheese straight into 4 to 8 °C.
  • Check the label: batch, durability date, composition, allergens.
